Last week I wrote about how my childhood genre TV watching weeking would kick off in grand fashion with the Friday CBS Late Night Movie.
After that, and after Saturday Morning Cartoons, came KTVU's Chiller Diller. The intro to which consists entirely of a video clip from Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman with a sampling from the Goldfinger soundtrack playing over it.
Chiller Diller aired at 11:30 on Saturday Morning, just after Soul Train, and, more often than not, showed a horror movie. The above sample clip has the voice of KTVU announcing a Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes adventure, The Woman in Green. One time, I kid you not, Chiller Diller actually aired the documentary That's Panthertainment. That was one of the more surreal moments from my childhood.
If the Chiller Diller movie turned out to be a bust (That's Panthertainment, really?), then I would switch over to Channel 44 and watch the Monstrous Movie, which aired at either 12:00 or 12:30.
Chiller Diller actually aired the documentary is Panthertainment. This was one of the most surreal of my childhood.

Yes, that was a very surreal moment. Glad to learn that others have shared it.
