Quite possibly my favorite moment in Maximum Overdrive. For some strange reason, it really shook me up when I first saw it (just the scene, not the movie as a whole).

When Joe Bob Briggs showed this on his TBS program, he related a nice story about this scene. It seems King wanted a nice blood splatter to run up the roller after the kid god run over, so he put a blood bag in the dummy's head and filmed the shot. The dailies of the shot showed that the effect was more spectacular - the bag burst under the weight of the steamroller, making it look like the kid's head EXPLODED upon getting run over.
King was over the moon about this and couldn't wait to share it. He sent a dub of the scene to George Romero. Romero wrote back, saying that he was eating when he watched the scene and the blood explosion put him off his food. Naturally King was delighted by this response, and equally despondent when the MPAA told him the scene wouldn't fly.

Ha! Igniting movie love in another is a meme not unlike spreading a song that is stuck in the mind. Glad to have shared (and spread) the wealth of Maximum Overdrive with you!
