New Comic Book Day - (03/04/09)

Hey, remember me?  It's been awhile.  I've been busy, you know.  Watching Japanese monster movies and, last weekend, attending Wonder Con.  Spent most of the Con talking with friends, rather than just attending panels, which was a refreshing change of pace from Cons previous and the primary reason that I didn't post a Wonderful Wonder Con report these year.  It's also the primary reason I haven't finished Scott Sigler's latest thriller.  A review of it should be up this weekend, along with one of that campy new super hero flick from Zack Snyder.  Bet that thing is going to be hilarious.

Speaking of hilarious, went to Flying Colors last night and this is what I came away with: Jungle Girl Season 2 #2, House of Mystery #11, Hack/Slash #20, and Kolchak Tales Annual #1.  Good stuff, at least I hope that it will be.

It's been awhile since I made an entry, but Wonder Con gave me a solid jolt of geekbastic energy, so here's this week's haul: Freddy vs Jason vs Ash #5 (of 6), Gravel #1,  Wormwood Gentleman Corpse #2 (of 4), Fallen Angel #24, and the March issue of Previews.  Christopher picked up Sonic the Hedgehog #185, Sonic X #30, and Ultimate Secrets.  Good stuff, better times.

It's a late game tonight, so we had time to drop by and check out the pickings.  Pretty slim this week.  I picked up the Battlestar Galacitca: Pegasus one-shot and an issue of Star Trek Magazine, just to see what's like.

Old Comic Book Day - (10/20/07)

After doing my grocery shopping for the week I decided to drop by my local comic book shop and grab some of the stuff that had slipped through the cracks.  The haul: Star Trek: Alien Spotlight: The Gorn, Plague of the Living Dead #s 4 & 5 (now all I have to do is buy issues 1, 2, and 3 - terrific), and Beneath the Valley of the Rage #s 2 & 3.

It's been awhile, hasn't it?  A heavy morning rain forced the cancellation of tonight's softball game, thus sparing the opposing team the painful drubbing our 8-person team would have wrought.  Well, that's the version I'm going to post, so there.

This week's haul was fairly light: The Sword #1, Friday the 13th: How I Spent My Summer Vacation #2 (of 2), and Bloodrayne: Blood Red Sun #2.  That's all, for now.

Softball practice was canceled, so Christopher and I made a trip to our local comic shop to empty out the Hold Box.  This week's haul (which is coupled with last week's as well, the three day weekend threw me off): The Incredible Hulk #110, New Line Cinema's Tales of Terror #1, Friday the 13th: How I Spent My Summer Vacation #1 (of 2), Fallen Angel #20, The Walking Dead #42, Se7en #6, World War Hulk #4 (of 5), Gamma Corps #3 (of 4), World War Hulk: Frontline #4 (of 6) and Scooby-Doo #124.

Christopher snagged World War Hulk #'s 2 & 3.

Until the football season ends (which will be sometime in November, if Christopher's team goes all the way that is, and it will) my New Comic Book Day visits to the local comic shop will be sporadic, at best.  I finally made it over there on Sunday, and this was the day's haul: Scooby-Doo #123, Friday the 13th: Pamela's Tale #2 (of 2), Battlestar Galactica: Season Zero #1, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: By Himself #1, and The Walking Dead #40.

My son has started football practice, so, until sometime in September, I won't get a chance to hit the comic book store until Saturday.  This week's haul is very, very light: The Incredible Hulk #109 and The Dark Tower: Gunslinger's Guidebook.

This has become a ridiculously expensive hobby.

Okay, it's the real deal New Comic Book Day this time.  This week's haul: Battlestar Galactica #10, Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #4, The Dark Tower #5, and War of the Undead #3.  I also grabbed Fallen Angel #16 from the New Comic Book Day that I missed last week.  Damn holiday.

D'oh!  I totally forgot that Monday was a holiday and new comic book day is TOMORROW!  D'oh Part Deux.  Rather than waste the trip, I carped the diem and grabbed a couple of comics that I was missing and then just shot the breeze with the guys at the store.

ARGH!!!

This is what happens when I take a little time off to recharge my batteries and try to get caught up on all the TV season sets that are sitting on my coffee table, waiting to be screened.  I fall hopelessly behind on my reading, my writing, and everything else.  (I would review some of the TV episodes, but I have been taking in several a night and that eats into my scribbling time as well.)  I'm going to try and get some reviews up on Thursday or Friday, but with WonderCon happening this weekend, I have a feeling that it's going to be rather quiet around here for a few more days.  Maybe some more Classic Moments of Cinema and Movie Trailers will help.  What do you think?

Anyway, on to this week's haul: Fall of Cthulhu #0 (would you believe I talked to a young lady at a used bookstore that didn't know who H.P.
